The baby is measuring right on track with the estimated due date, September 3, and they are scheduling a c section for me on August 30! Right now the baby is 2.5 inches long. They said it was still too early to tell if it's a boy or a girl...
Here are a few of the ultrasound pictures:

baby leg!

We showed the kids the pictures, and Ender kept wanting to kiss the pictures of the baby. Olive doesn't understand at all (I think Ender does a little) so she just points to the pictures and babbles. We tell them there is a baby in mommy's tummy, and she doesn't do much, but Ender kisses my belly then lifts his shirt up and tries to kiss his belly too...it's adorable!
Then after lunch we took Ender and Olive to the doctor for their 2 and 1 year old checkups. Ender has always loved going to the dr. and is so good and just lets the doctor examine him...not this time! He screamed and was NOT happy to be there! After a lot of trying, we found out he weighs 29 lbs (between the 50th and 75th percentiles), is exactly 3 feet tall (90th percentile), and his head is in the 90th %! He and Olive are both right on track developmentally, which is great for her since she was behind only 4 months ago! When we got her her measurements were right at the bottom or off of the bottom of the charts. Now she is 18 lbs (10th %), her head is also in the 10th %, and she is 29 inches (50th %!!!) Olive had to get 3 shots, but Ender is up to date, no more until he is 4!
Oh, and Ender turned 2 on Sunday...he's definitely into his terrible 2's! He has started to throw fits when he doesn't get what he wants. But...he is such a sweet boy! He has gotten to be so snugly and will come lay in our bed with us and just watch tv and cuddle! He still has his moments when he wants to just push Olive over, but for the most part he is learning to share with her and love her. He gives her kisses and tries to love on her. She has learned that when Ender is rough with her she gets picked up and he goes in time out, so now if he barely touches her she will scream sometimes...already learning to get him in trouble! But she is also so sweet...she loves to give kisses and sing and dance! She has some rhythm (maybe she can teach Ender to dance...he just spins in circles and stomps his foot!) She is learning some new words and will take around 8 steps between people, just isn't brave enough yet to do it on her own. Ender talks so much now. And he is learning how to sing...he kept singing the "Happy Birthday" song on his birthday..."Ha Buth to YOU!!" with his little deep singing voice, so sweet!

Congrats! On the new baby. I have been following your blog for awhile now. Your family is just wonderful, and both of the kids are as cute as they can be!
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself, your going to be tired.
HI there! First of all, your Olive baby is darling! {So is Ender!}
ReplyDeleteSecond, we're in the process of adopting from Uganda, and third Olive is my favorite name ever.. I'm guessing that's how I happened across your blog.. :)
anyways, question, I'm a photographer and I'm wonder what camera you took with you to Africa.. you'r pictures are amazing and my point and shoot camera sucks. Anyways, maybe it is a real camera, but either way the pictures are amazing and if it is a point and shoot I'd love to know what kind! Thank you!
Thanks ladies! I have been tired, but it's gotten a lot better...having a one and two year old keeps me moving!
ReplyDeleteAb...my husband is a photographer, too, and we both work in his family photography business! We brought a cannon 5d with us. My husband took most of the pictures, he's great! His mom came with us, and she is the one that took the pictures of us meeting Olive. We love the name too! It was my husband's great grandma's name. We are trying to come up with a unique name for the new baby to go with Ender and Olive!
