SmallWish

One of the big deals when we bring Olive home will be the need for her to bond and attach to me and Michael as her parents (of course we are already in love with her :) But, it will take time for her to bond to us and love us. One way to do this is to "wear" her in a sling or other type of carrier.
When Adam was in Africa right after we got married, he brought me home a piece of fabric that the women use over there to carry around their babies (which was kind of a joke back then b/c we had been married for all of 4 or 5 months). Of course the women in Africa are much more skilled at using just a piece of fabric than I ever could be, so I wanted to have it made into a baby sling. I searched on etsy.com (which I am addicted to) and found Tracy's company, SmallWish. I was trying to find her email address to email her, when I saw in her profile that she also adopted, and this is why she started making these slings. I emailed her to ask if she would, instead of using her fabric, use our African fabric to make it for us. She was so happy to do it for us, and it is so beautiful!

If anyone is looking for a baby sling, or a gift for a baby shower, etc, I HIGHLY recommend going HERE and using her. Her prices are so reasonable compared to buying them in a store, they are handmade, and amazing quality! She has some beautiful fabric (I don't know how I would have chosen if I didn't already have fabric we wanted to use!) She also sells other adorable baby items.

I almost cried when I got it (and of course immediately made Ender try it out...he can be held in it while sitting on my hip). It is so special to have this, and Tracy is such a blessing to have done this for us :)

Thanks Tracy, you are awesome :)

ps...the tickets are officially booked YAAAYYY!! and we are leaving Sat. Sept 12 at 9:45. we will be missing the wedding, BUT we know there is some reason it is all happening at once :) we are SO happy for josh and ange and they are so happy for us to bring olive home :)

  2. I would never have made it through our trip without our carrier! It has still proven to be a lifesaver. And yes, the women in Africa are very skilled at taking any piece of fabric and being able to carry a child in it. I was amazed watching them at the care center. The good news is that Olive will be very used to it and it will feel so natural to her. Congrats on booking the tickets. Looking forward to photos of her soon!
